Below is ongoing correspondence regarding the failure of any County
officials to show up at a CAB meeting where they were on the agenda.

Mr. Freund, with all due respect your answer defies belief and reality. Here on earth we know from past agendas that this is not a standard item and the CAB members would have no idea of the status, Mr. Young would! This is an insult to the CAB and to the Chair who repeatedly commented that we could not get an update because the Washoe County Representative had not shown up. I find your response incredulous- science fiction.  If these are the word games that Washoe County wants to play with its citizens who packed the CAB looking for a real update then we have lost all faith in our county government. Isn't the purpose of the agenda to describe what the CAB will hear not present? The CAB has a new agenda function to present items to the audience?  I urge the CAB members to resign as this has become a farce. And after the last presentation in September where a packed audience gave hours of input to Mr Young followed by emails and letters; why has there been no revisions. Your response simply lacks credibility.

Jeff…

I am aware of Item 10 B., (and it shows up on many CAB agendas) and it is a standing item for a report from the CAB members on their involvement in the area plan during the month.  At this time, I am not aware of a scheduled staff update on the Area Plan.  No revisions have been made since the last presentation.

Thanks,

Adrian

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, a copy of the agenda is attached. It clearly states Forest Area Plan update (see below). Mr Hempel has nothing to do with that! His was an unrelated presentation.

No one knows when the next scheduled presentation of the Forest Area Plan is, that question was raised last night.

There was some serious discourse and argument on whether things stated by Mr. Hempel were binding. It would have been nice to have a Community Development person there to answer that and other questions too.

Some have said that I should tone down my criticism of the county and then more stuff like this happens.

Copied from the agenda:

10.     OLD BUSINESS

B.*    Area Plan Updates – Report on the status of the Forest Area Plan updates.  (This item is information only and no action will be taken).

Hi Jeff…

It was our understanding that the presentation was by Hugh Hempel and about his project, and not a presentation of the County Area Plan.  We understand what Hugh is proposing and understand the concerns of the public.  Mr. Hempel is well aware that he needs to build a constituency for his project, and that building support for an individual project is not the County’s job.  We will be present for the next scheduled status presentation of the Area Plan.

Additionally, for your information, the County is inspecting the Terra Sante project today.

Mr Adrien Freund
Washoe County Community Development Director

Please allow me to express my extreme disappointment (again) at the failure of any Washoe County Development personnel to show to a packed house and three TV stations at the October 11th Galena CAB!

Beth, myself and others spent considerable time putting out flyers, emails, and otherwise getting the word out on the Forest Area Plan. It was the second to the last item on the agenda. We had a packed house (see photo attached) but no one from the county was there for the update.
